September 21, 2010- LEAF "I will live and grow in Jesus!"

So today was our first day back to school after our 4 week break of maternity leave. The girls were SO ready and anxious to start back to school! We had a GREAT first day back!!

We started out our day with a little math. We did our 100 Chart, our Calendar, and our Rods.

Then we learned about the letter L, for Leaf,Lion,LOG cabin,& Leg.

Then we talked about the "Leaf". We learned how the plant drinks water through it's roots, how the plant combines it's food from the sun, water, and carbon dioxide and makes chlorophyll. Then the plant stores the chlorophyll in the leaves and that is why they are the color green!

Breathing in

Breathing out!

We also learned that we breathe in Oxygen, and out Carbondioxide. And the plants take in Carbondioxide and give off Oxygen.

We talked about how the leaves change color to get ready for winter, and we talked about all the things we do to get ready for winter.

Then mommy told a story about a leaf who didn't want to be part of the plant anymore because he wanted to be his own boss! He didn't think he needed the plant and wanted to be FREE!!(we broke off a leaf) So he left the plant because he thought life would be much better that way because he can do anything he wants now!!

Then we pretended we were leaves and the plant was God. We learned that God gives us what we need but that some people don't want to obey God(like the leaf we broke off). Now they are like the leaf all by itself unable to get food and water.

The girls were so sad the leaf couldn't be put back on the plant because they realized that without the plant the leaf is going to die, just like we will without God. Then we memorized "I will live and grow in Jesus"

We'll keep you updated on the leaves progress the rest of the week as we watch it to see what happens!
